Introducing Product Reviews

Hi, I’m Samina, and I’m starting a new blog series called “Product Reviews,” where I give an in-depth review of my thoughts and feelings about a product. I’ll discuss the parts I liked and the ones I didn’t, how I would improve the product, and most importantly — would I recommend the product?

Why am I doing this?

• I miss writing — a lot. It helps me slow down and really process my thoughts. It gives me new ideas, and I also like to use it as a medium to communicate.
• As a product manager, I know how hard it is to give and also receive honest user feedback. This is an attempt to practice. It also brings me incredible joy to be a first user.
• I like playing with tech. I genuinely enjoy trying out new games, software, and tools and can do it for hours on end. And I want to try new things, the way food enthusiasts always try new foods.

Right now, I will focus on everyday products that I use so I can be incredibly honest about how I use them. In the future, I might be open to trying new products for some time if you’d like to get some feedback.

But before I sign off, a few disclaimers:

• All of this is composed of my own opinion. I will always strive to be as objective as possible, but my opinion, at the end of the day, is my opinion.
• I will never accept money or bribes to specifically say something positive or negative about someone’s product. I pinky promise.
• If I suggest something, that doesn’t mean someone should do it. I am one user. Great product decisions come from informed data from many users across many demographics.
